Revise all sentences in which pronouns are too remote from their antecedents.

1. The practice of granting credit is old as human society. Historians researching ancient politics find references to it in almost all written records.
2. Archaeologists have found that borrowing was a common practice even before a system of monetary exchange had been invented to make it easier.
3. The Bible refers to ancient credit practices by creditors. Trust did not seem to be relevant issue in any of these regulations. Rather, they tried to dupe debtors and enslave them.
4. The ancient money lenders charged debtors fixed rates of interest. Often, the agreement concealed the fact that the rates could be as high as 360 percent, forcing them into slavery simply to make payment.
5. After they developed a monetary system, the ancient Greeks attempted to abolish the practice of changing interest. They felt that money was not a productive commodity, so therefore it was immoral.

5. Almost all rules regarding credit regulated the lender, which is surprising.
